The BE-ICS-TMA (Tools and Middleware for Automation) focuses on middleware and integration technologies and common tooling for industrial controls. The section develops and supports components for industrial standard integration technologies, including OPC-UA and manages collaborations with related commercial partners Similarly, TMA develops and supports components for CERN centric integration technologies including DIP, CMW, LASER.

This section is also responsible for common tools, including the UNICOS Application Builder code generation (UAB) and the PLC related tools for specification and formal /verification (SISpec and PLCVerif). TMA also provides components and tools for low-level CAN-bus communications and ad-hoc consultancy on bus design and fault diagnosis.
